Southern Peach Cobbler

Southern Peach Cobbler

There aren't many things that can top a fresh baked peach cobbler. It's the perfect summer (and into fall) dessert! This is my family's absolute favorite tried and true recipe. It never lasts long, and is always a crowd pleaser! Not only that, but it's super simple and quick to make. I call that a mom win!

Here's what you'll need:

  • A baking dish about 8x8 but doesn't have to be exact any small-ish dish works!
  • A stainless steel or cast iron pan
  • A few different bowls
  • measuring spoons
  • measuring cups
  • whisk
  • spoon/spatula

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups of fresh organic peaches (peeled and sliced)*
  • 1 cup organic sugar
  • 3/4 cup organic brown sugar
  • 1 cup organic flour
  • 1 tsp organic cinnamon (plus more for sprinkling)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp aluminum free baking powder
  • 1 tsp organic vanilla
  • 3/4 cup raw milk (or low temp vat pasteurized)
  • 1 stick grass fed organic butter

Directions:

  1. First things first you need to peel and cut your peaches, which is the most tedious part of this whole thing.
  2. Next you need to fill a 2 cup liquid measuring cup with 1 cup of white sugar, then top with the 3/4 cup brown sugar. Mix it around a bit, not completely.
  3. Heat a pan and place the peaches and 3/4 cup of the mixed sugar. Cook until sugar is dissolved and peaches are soft. While that is cooking, heat your oven to 350º F.
  4. In a bowl mix flour, cinnamon, salt, baking powder, and remaining sugar. Add in milk and mix until dough comes together. It will be a loose dough (it's ok!).
  5. Place the stick of butter in a baking dish and let it melt in the oven.
  6. Once the butter is melted, add peaches to the dish. Top with dough, and sprinkle with cinnamon (optional). Bake for 30-35 minutes or until dough is cooked through.

This peach cobbler is delicious alone, but goes so well with homemade whipped cream or ice cream! Enjoy!
