My Thoughts About This Upcoming 2024 Election

My Thoughts About This Upcoming 2024 Election

I have gone back and forth for weeks about wether or not I wanted to write this blog post. For most of my life I shied away from talking about politics, and if I'm being 100% honest I didn't really even care about politics until about four years ago. I used to say things like "I don't care about politics" or "I don't pay attention to politics." Because genuinely at the time I DID NOT care.

But something happened a few years ago and I don't know if it's because I'm getting older, or have a family of my own, but it suddenly clicked that these things DO affect me and my family.

I know each election season is pretty intense and wild, but this one seems to be on another level. Everything is so heavy and there is so much divide going on right now in our country. I feel like so much is at stake with this election and it honestly makes me nervous to think about the potential outcome.

There's so much noise on social media and even the mainstream media that it's hard to drown it out. But let me put it simply.

You either want to save America, or watch it continue to go down the drain. It sounds dramatic but truly that's what we are looking at here. I've always been and will always be a patriot. I believe in what our country was founded on and I will always fight for what is right.

I don't care about parties. I care about policy. I don't care what gender or race a candidate is, that means nothing to me. Heck, I don't even care what age they are as long as they are physically and mentally able to carry out their duties. Everyone these days seems to be so caught up with the superficial aspects about the candidates instead of remembering that we are voting for a leader not a pastor. You don't have to personally like the candidate to know which policies are best for this country.

I'm tired of being silent, being small, and keeping things to myself. This is not the time to be reserved. This is the time to stand up. My heart breaks that so many people are cheering on and campaigning for a candidate that advocates for killing babies. Are either candidate perfect? No. I wish someone who was truly pro-life was running, but this is a perfect example of having to choose between the options you are given.

I'm also really tired of the lies. Whatever happened to responsible journalism? Can we please stop spreading the lie that Trumps plan is project 2025? Can we stop lying about no active duty being deployed to a combat zone right now? It's really getting old.

I know the values that are important to me and my family and here they are:

  • protecting life
  • love of God
  • being a patriot
  • doing what's right
  • taking care of Americans first
  • working for what you have
  • the Constitution and preserving our American history
  • protecting family

And just in case you're curious I'll do an unbiased (as unbiased as one can be) fact based comparison of the two candidates so you can choose who best aligns with your values.

Here is just one of the comparisons I found online.

But here's my take on it. Trump wants to secure the border and deport illegal aliens. Harris has no such plans. Trump wants to reduce or eliminate financial/arms support for Ukraine, Harris wants to maintain it. Trump wants to protect free speech on social media platforms/online, Harris wants to punish those who spread "misinformation." Both want to increase spending on national defense. Both want to reduce drug prices. Trump wants to implement a 60% tariff on goods from China, Harris wants to target tariffs at industry/geopolitical rivals, including Chinese technology products. Trump wants to keep men out of women's sports, Harris wants to allow men in women's sports. Trump wants to leave abortion up to the states, Harris wants to bring it back to a federal level.

If you want to dive more into each candidates platform and what they are running on I will include some more below. I encourage you to actually do your own research because that's the only way to get down to the truth.

Called Agenda 47.

Slogan: "Make America Great Again!"

Here are the bullet points directly from his campaign site.

I'd like to add that his site is very straight forward and to the point. Easy to read and understand. You can check it out for yourself here.

Harris

Called A New Way Forward

Slogan: "We're Not Going Back!" (I think, this has been more tricky to actually find)

Here is some of the information directly from her campaign website.

2. Make rent more affordable and home ownership more attainable.

3. Grow small businesses and invest in entrepreneurs.

4. Take on bad actors and bring down costs.

5. Strengthen and bring down the cost of health care.

6. Protect and strengthen social security and medicare.

18. Invest in America's sources of strength.

19. Support service members, veterans, their families, caregivers, and survivors.

I will say her website is not user friendly at all, I had to hunt for her polices and even then it's not easy to read. Not only that, but theres a ton of writing. There aren't any real easy bullet points.

You can see for yourself here

Another issue I have with Harris' site is the fact that she not only talks about Trump on her policies page, but she also falsely compares. She, multiple times, refers to "Trump's project 2025." Your policy page should be just that. And easy way for your voters to read what policies you stand for. This is not the place to try and smear your opponent. It looks petty and immature, especially when you lie while doing it.

Final Thoughts

Like I said before, I have a lot of issues with this election. And honestly I've known who I was voting for since the very beginning, so anything anyone says at this point doesn't make a difference. I'm sure lots of people are that way by now. There's only 39 days until the election and I can't imagine there are still people trying to decide who to vote for.

But as for me and my family, we will be supporting the man who supports America. The man who wants to protect our 2nd amendment rights instead of trying to remove our guns from us. We will stand with the man who doesn't support/like abortion, versus the woman who gladly celebrates it. We will be supporting the man who will do everything to keep us out of WWIII, instead of the woman who will surely bring it on. We will support the man who supports our troops, instead of the woman who can't be bothered to care. There are so many more reasons why I as a woman will never support Harris, but those are the main ones.

I want to close this by saying that these are MY thoughts. You are entitled to think whatever you want, but don't come at me if you disagree. Also, my hope isn't in a candidate, it's in Jesus. I trust that God's plan will be executed regardless of the outcome of this election and I continuously pray about it.

Last but certainly not least, make sure you vote. No matter what make sure you go out, show out, and vote!
