My First Midwife Appointment with Baby #5

My First Midwife Appointment with Baby #5

I can't believe this is my FIRST prenatal appointment this pregnancy. I've never been seen this late for the first time, but thanks to this PCS things got a little crazy. The morning of my appointment I was 13w4d according to my last period.

My appointment was at 9:25am and we're about 30 minutes from the Naval Hospital. It was a hot mess kinda morning and we were rushing out the door last second. Somehow I ended up only being about 5 minutes or so late. We went up to the OB floor, checked in, and before I knew it I was being called back. All the kids trailed behind me like ducks in a row. They took my weight (which by the way was about 121 lbs) and height and then escorted us to my exam room. The kids all piled onto a chair while I sat up on the exam table. She went over notes, asked all the questions and then we waited for the midwife to come in.

As soon as the midwife came in, I knew I was going to like her. She was warm, funny, and understanding. She asked a few of her own questions and then did an ultrasound to measure baby. I was a big dehydrated and baby wasn't cooperating, so we didn't get the best images but we did get to see a nice profile at one point and a perfect hand! She at first was saying I was measuring a bit ahead but didn't think they would change my due date, but to be safe wanted to call in the OB to do more advanced growth scans for dating. The OB came in, checked a few things, measuring leg bones, skull circumferences, etc and decided she wanted to MOVE MY DUE DATE. I wasn't expecting that at all. I was so certain of my dates that it seemed crazy to me. But I guess I was measuring 8 days ahead, so they decided to move my due date to May 28th instead of June 5th. They told me I was actually 14w5d instead of 13w4d.

I'm almost not ready to be that far along, which sounds silly because it's only 8 days, but I want to savor ever second of this pregnancy that I can and it seems to be flying by out of nowhere now!

I'm now 15w1d which is crazy to me because I only have 5 weeks until I'm halfway through this pregnancy. How is that even possible? Didn't I just find out?

Just gives me all the more reason to slow down and enjoy everyday of this baby growing inside me.
