Bumpdate | 29 Weeks

Bumpdate | 29 Weeks

How Far Along?: 29 weeks! Gosh it's getting close!

Weight Gain: So far I've gained about 15lbs, but it sort of fluctuates from day to day. But overall I feel so tiny.

Gender?: BOY! I can't wait to meet him! I wonder who he will look like.

How Big is Baby?: He's the size of an acorn squash and is weighing in at 2.5 lbs and 15.2 inches long. He's getting a little cramped in there! I'm also feeling a subtle, repetitive twitch a lot more. That’s him hiccuping!

The regular rhythmic patter of his hiccups can get annoying, but it may also be reassuring: Hiccups seem to be linked to practice breathing—which he's doing frequently now. (That said, he's inhaling amniotic fluid, not air; the placenta is responsible for providing oxygen from now until birth.) In fact, some research suggests that hiccups may help newborns develop important connections between the brain and the diaphragm, the muscle responsible for breathing.

His bone marrow begins producing red blood cells about now. Red blood cells are his lifeline, carrying oxygen to all of the body’s tissues and shuttling out carbon dioxide. At the very beginning of pregnancy, his red blood cells were produced by the yolk sack (which performed many critical functions until the placenta and other organs were developed enough to step in). From week 7 of pregnancy to now, the liver churned out most red blood cells.

Symptoms: This week has been a weird one. My gut has been acting up so much. I think part of that was flying across the world and the stress of my grandma being in the hospital. My back has been hurting, and my belly skin is so itchy and dry the skin is actually peeling off. The heartburn is fierce too. Every now and then I get slightly dizzy but it's quickly over and it only started once I got to California. Overall though I think I'm doing okay.

Any Food Cravings?: Ice cream or milkshakes! I really can't think of anything else that I'm truly craving right now.

Sleep: I'm actually not sleeping horribly. The plane and the day after was rough, but overall it hasn't been bad.

Stretch Marks?: No new ones that I've noticed. But my old ones are just more pronounced and noticeable for sure!

Maternity Clothes?: Yes! I have a few basics that I just bought. I have some leggings, tank tops, tees, and biker shorts. I also mix in my normal clothes too so I don't spend too much money on clothes I won't ever wear again (I think lol).

Wedding Ring On or Off?: On!

What Do You Miss the Most?: Being comfortable and my gut being normal.

What Are You Most Excited For This Next Week?: My massage! Gosh I can't wait! Being pampered while pregnant is the best!

Labor Signs?: Nope!

Favorite Memory From Last Week?: I would say flying to see grandma. It was both good and exhausting. I miss my family, but I'm glad I got to see grandma at the hospital.
